A Becky Lee Interiors and Anneke Stewart original collaboration.
The Mandala imagery which prevails Anneke's work is a nod to the healing capabilities of the traditional Buddhist Mandala sand art. Anneke believes art has the power to influence the energy of the viewer so with that in mind she aims to create artwork that has a positive presence.
‘Poshe’ (pronounced Po-she) is named after Becky’s paternal grandmother. Poshe (which was the name given to her by her grandchildren) was very stylish and wore the handpainted silks that feature through these works with finesse. This piece combines one of her scarves with foliage and Passionflowers foraged from the Red Zone. “I used to live on Banks Ave and there was an enormous mansion just down the road that was like something straight out of Hollywood and always a great source of fascination for me. Some time after the earthquakes I revisited the area and was shocked to see no trace of the mansion - it had been completely demolished and cleared. Even the gardens had gone. All that remains is a quiet desolate feeling enormous empty section. I ventured in one day while foraging and discovered this Passionflower vine, a small piece of joy in amongst the memories of what used to be.” Becky
